Undead

Undead are creatures raised from the remains of dead creatures. This is typically done through Necromantic energy. This energy is fueled by the Spirits of the dead body, though some believe the soul itself is used, and so many abhorr this practice. Some communities have used the dead to create a cheap labour force or expendable soldiers, but Undead soldiers are most often used by greedy individuals seeking personal gain.

Not all Undead are raised through Necromantic power, as some may be raised by Demons or Celestials, but they are all treated similarly.

Description

The most basic trick of necromancy involves simply bidding a corpse to walk once more. These shambling horrors form the bulk of many undead armies and may be risen from the enemies they face. Though individually unintimidating, they may pose quite a threat in a large group and are not put down easily.

Immune to D damage effects but may take visible damage such as losing limbs.

Can make a free Quick Attack once per turn.

However, only gets 1 Action per turn and cannot make Attack Avoidance Rolls.

Swarming

Successful attacks Grapple the target.

Will use Bite on Grappled Opponents.

Mindless Undead only perform the will of their master.

Strategy

Reanimated swarm their targets, grappling them in order to use their Bite attack.

Personality

Mindless undead are very straightforward and blunt. They attack on sight.

Bark

A low groan is often made by the Reanimated as they stumble towards their targets.

Winning

Grapple and Bite the nearest enemy.

Losing

Grapple and Bite the nearest enemy.

Bloodied

You've guessed it, Grapple and Bite the nearest enemy.

Last Gasp

Orders are followed to the last, with little more than a final groan as the undead die again.

Information

Communication

Reanimated are unable to properly communicate, though they can understand the same languages as their master. They will only listen to creatures if they have been commanded to do so by their master. Orders must be given clearly and kept simple in order to be understood.

Additional Details

Certain Reanimated Corpses might be wearing armour, which can protect them just is it does anyone else. Though they might also carry weapons, they are unable to use them, even if ordered to do so by their master.

More than mindless shells, Risen are granted some semblence of autonomy and limited intelligence. These often act as more useful servants for more powerful Necromancers.

Risen exist to serve their master. Their master's will is their own.

Strategy

Risen can work as a unit, performing basic flanking strategies and defending advantageous positions.

Personality

Risen are aggressive fighters, typically raised to fight or perform other violent tasks.

Bark

Certain Risen might make battle-cries or shout threats, though most attack with little more than a hiss.

Winning

Risen press the attack, accepting no surrender unless their master has commanded them to do so.

Losing

If the master is not already aware, they might flee to warn their master.

Bloodied

Risen are willing to fight to the death.

Last Gasp

Risen fight to the last, but upon their second death, the light in their eyes dims with a hiss as their unlife ends.

Communication

Risen can understand the same languages as their master, and can make basic sentences. They cannot perform complex thoughts and make for poor conversation, though they can serve as guards or messengers. They are easily tricked or outwitted, though if they realise they're being tricked, they are likely to attack.
